ROCKLAND, Mass. -- A violent confrontation between two women and a police officer led to a police chase Wednesday afternoon.

Rockland police got a routine call to parking lot of a local restaurant. Upon arrival, Officer James Simpson said two women were shooting up liquefied crack cocaine in their car.

"We got a suspicious activity call for two females in a vehicle turned into almost getting stuck with a syringe and getting into a pursuit," Simpson said.

Simpson said when he went over to the women, Kerri Hanson was attempting to put her car into gear but the vehicle was off at the time. She then lunged at him with the syringe which prompted him to use his taser gun.

Passenger Stacey Curtin was able to start the car, put it into reverse, and press Hanson's foot on the gas pedal to knock over the officer.

A police chase in traffic through Rockland, Norwell and Hanover ensued.

Police finally boxed in the car and arrested the two women and found Hanson's one-year-old daughter strapped into her car-seat in the back.

The little girl has been turned over to her grandmother who is trying to get custody.

Hanson and Curtain are facing a number of charges including resisting arrest, assault and battery and child endangerment.
