Chicopee woman dies in wrong way crash
SANDISFIELD, Mass. -- State police say a Chicopee woman has died in a head-on crash in rural Sandisfield.
Police say a car driven by 29-year-old Erin Dufour of Chicopee was headed north on Route 8 when at about 8 p.m. on Wednesday when it was struck head-on by another vehicle driven by 47-year-old Pamela Balsamo of Barkhamsted, Conn.
Police say Balsamo was driving south in the northbound lane.
Dufour was pronounced dead at the scene.
Balsamo suffered serious injuries and was taken to Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington, Conn.
No charges have been filed. The crash remains under investigation.
