Man posing as US Marshal arrested in New York
CONCORD, N.H. -- A man who took money from two New Hampshire convenience stores while claiming to be a U.S. Marshal has been arrested -- by real ones.
The marshals service says 45-year-old John Baldasaro was arrested about 9:30 a.m. Thursday in a New York City hotel room on numerous outstanding warrants from throughout New England.
Surveillance cameras recorded a man identified as Baldasaro at two stores in Chesterfield on Monday. Police said Baldasaro said he was conducting a counterfeit money investigation and told them to hand over cash. The store owners said they saw a badge, a gun and a convincing act, so they did what they were told.
