Northbridge woman faces child rape charges
UXBRIDGE, Mass. -- A 45-year-old Northbridge woman has been charged with raping a 13-year-old boy she knew.
Linda Mayotte pleaded not guilty Wednesday in Uxbridge District Court to four counts of indecent assault and battery on a child and six counts of child rape. She was also charged with resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.
She was held on $2,500 bail, and ordered to wear a monitoring device if she posts bail.
Prosecutors say the alleged rapes occurred between Feb. 1 and June 1, 2005.
The Telegram & Gazette of Worcester reports that Mayotte's defense lawyer said the boy only recently reported the alleged incidents to police while being questioned about a theft. Her husband refused comment.
Three children living in Mayotte's home were taken into state custody.
