Accused Canton driver involved in other accidents
BOSTON -- The 88-year-old Canton driver accused of striking and killing a 4-year-old girl in a crosswalk has been behind the wheel in a number of auto accidents, including one in which her husband died.
The Boston Herald reports Friday that Ilse Horn was never charged in the death of her 73-year-old husband, Charles Horn, which California authorities ruled an accident. Charles Horn died instantly in the September 1992 crash in Klamath, Calif.
According to the coroner's report, Ilse Horn fell asleep and the vehicle left the roadway.
The crash was ruled a surchargeable accident, which means the driver was found more than 50 percent responsible.
Police say 4-year-old Diya Patel was struck and killed earlier this month while crossing a street in Stoughton with her grandfather and two siblings.
