More rain prompts widespread flood warnings
CONCORD, N.H. -- Torrential rain continues falling on already soaked New Hampshire, prompting flash flood warnings over much of the state.
The National Weather Service has posted warnings in five of the state's ten counties until noon. Forecasters say they anticipate flooding as heavy rain falls on saturated ground.
The warning affects southern New Hampshire to just south of the White Mountains, and includes Belknap, Strafford, Merrimack, Rockingham and Carroll Counties.
Forecasters say one to two inches of rain may fall, causing small creeks and streams to overflow. Highway and underpass flooding also is expected.
Meteorologist Eric Schwibs says the storm headed into New Hampshire dumped about three inches of rain in central Massachusetts earlier Thursday.
