Gardner man charged in ATV death
WINCHENDON, Mass. -- A Gardner man is facing a motor vehicle homicide charge after the all-terrain vehicle he was operating crashed into a tree, killing his teenage passenger.
Jason Perini is scheduled to be arraigned Monday in Gardner District Court.
Police tell the Telegram & Gazette of Worcester that Perini showed up at a party in Winchendon on Saturday night on the ATV, which had been reported stolen.
He was giving rides to partygoers. Police say at about 11:30 p.m., Perini passed a car on the ATV and crashed into a tree. His passenger, 17-year-old Abby Gosselin-Remming, was taken to a Worcester hospital where she died.
Police believe speed and alcohol played roles in the crash.
Perini left the scene of the crash on foot but was arrested at about 3:30 a.m. Sunday.
