Visitors welcomed aboard Tall Ships
BOSTON -- Dozens of tall ships from across the world have made their way into Boston Harbor.
A number of the magnificent ships have already dropped anchor. Beginning Thursday, visitors were welcomed aboard the ships for tours.
The five-day visit -- which almost fell victim to budget constraints -- is expected to draw thousands of visitors to the city's waterfront.
Organizers say 12 of the sailing vessels will be open for public tours Thursday through Sunday at Charlestown Navy Yard, the Boston Fish Pier and Seaport World Trade Center. Other ships plan to dock privately.
The 45 ships, participating in the Tall Ships Atlantic Challenge, come from 17 different countries and will leave for Halifax, Nova Scotia, after their time in Boston.
