Spokeswoman says stopped NH bus used lights
WINDHAM, N.H. -- A bus company spokeswoman says a school bus was stopped at a regular drop-off point in Windham, N.H., and its red lights were flashing when it was hit from behind by a pickup truck, injuring eight people.
The eight, including six Salem High School students, suffered minor injuries in the accident Wednesday afternoon.
The bus was operated by First Student. Company spokeswoman Bonnie Bastian told the Eagle-Tribune the bus was stopped on Route 111 and had its red lights flashing and it bus arm extended.
A witness said the small bus, with a capacity of 20 people, was knocked forward about 40 feet. There were nine students on board.
Windham fire Chief Tom McPherson said the students and the drivers of both vehicles were taken to the hospital as a precaution.
