Web site ranks top trick-or-treating spots in Boston area

BOSTON -- Children are always on the look-out for the houses that hand out the best Halloween candy.

A new survey that lists the top trick-or-treating destinations in the Boston area may be able to help find the sweetest spots.

Making the grade are Cambridge, Somerville, Brookline, and South End and Charlestown sections of the city.

Real-estate site zillow.com is using their data to help candy cravers find the best neighborhoods in the Boston area.

To locate the towns with the best treats, Zillow uses home values, population density, neighborhood walkability and local crime data.

Cambridge scored the sweetest spot on the list coming in at number one.

"Some communities you go around trick or treating there's a lot of porch lights turned off and you know people are home, but you don't get that here, people very much enjoy the trick-or-treaters coming up to their door," said one Cambridge resident.

Residents there agree their city cares about candy.

"We just bought a big assorted bag with like a thousand pieces of candy in there, so hopefully we don't run out," said another resident.

In case you travel on Halloween, the people who put together the Boston list have also compiled the top "trick-or-treat" spots in cities such as Seattle, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Chicago.
