Man found dead in store parking lot
LAWRENCE, Mass. -- Lawrence police say the shooting death of a 21-year-old city man outside a convenience store over the weekend may be drug related.
Authorities tell The Eagle-Tribune that Yamil Garcia was found bleeding on the ground in the parking lot of the 7-Eleven just before 2 a.m. on Sunday.
He was taken to Lawrence General Hospital where he was pronounced dead. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday to determine the cause of death.
One man seen speeding from the scene in a van was apprehended by police but has not been charged in connection with the killing. A gun was found in the van.
Police say Garcia was carrying a large amount of cash, a car key, a small bag of marijuana and a cell phone when he was shot.
