Woman trying to cash bad check arrested
KINGSTON, Mass. -- A woman was arrested in Kingston Thursday after she attempted to cash a stolen check at a Bank of America.
Stephanie Jones, 25, was charged with uttering, forgery and receiving stolen property.
Police searched her vehicle and found numerous pocketbooks and other personal items including cameras, cell phones and clothes. Those items belonged to residents in Kingston, Hingham, Quincy, Halifax, Pembroke and Hillsboro, N.H. respectively, said Kingston Police Sgt. Bobby Wells.
Reports say that some of the recovered items were stolen in car breaks in Hingham Nov. 4.
The stolen property is valued over $250 but most of the stolen goods have been returned to their owners.
Jones, a graduate of Hingham High and UMass Boston, was released on bail and scheduled to be arraigned in Plymouth District Court Friday.
Police said she had already started setting up false accounts using the victim's information.
