Roslindale boy gets new wheelchair from community
ROSLINDALE, Mass. -- A family received a touching show of support for their eight-year-old son, who was the victim of a heartless crime.
Mohammed Elawad's wheelchair that he needs to get around was recently stolen from in front of his house. It was returned, but was in terrible condition.
The community came together on his behalf. Dozens of donations made it possible to buy Mohammed a brand new chair.
The family expressed their appreciation to everyone who pitched in to help.
"It's been great. Really great. Thank you so much. Thank you for you all," said Yasir Elawad, Mohammed's father.
The Elawad family also received a gift certificate to a local supermarket so they can have an extra special Thanksgiving, which this year is also Mohammed's ninth birthday.
