Police involved in standoff at Swansea home
SWANSEA, Mass. -- Three people were arrested after a two-hour standoff between police and some suspects outside a home in Swansea Tuesday night.
Officers were originally responding to the scene at Old Providence Road at around 11 p.m. after a call came in that said someone was stuffed in a car trunk. When officers arrived, they found a suspect armed with a shotgun. They used a taser gun to subdue the suspect, 56-year-old Mario Andreozzi.
"I was seeing them, and they had all their jackets, and their big weapons, and they kept running down back and forth. It's like something out of CSI," said neighbor Elisha Rodrigues.
Officers became concerned after they learned a two-year-old was inside the home, but it was later determined the child was never in any danger.
"When you have family members involved, you don't know how many people are in the house, and again we did have a child in the house. We have to use due caution," said Sgt. Gregory Ryan of the Swansea Police Department.
Residents were pleased no one was hurt in the incident.
"With a few kids around the neighborhood, we just want to make sure everything's okay, especially during the holiday season coming, Thanksgiving too," said Rodrigues.
Andreozzi, his 19-year-old son Anthony, and his 21-year-old daughter Gina were arrested and were charged with assault and battery.
