WELLESLEY, Mass. (WHDH) -- For teenagers, it's a bizarre contract you wouldn't think they'd agree to. But Paul Baier's daughter said “okay,” and agreed to quit Facebook, of course, at a price.

“’In return, my dad, Paul, agrees to pay me $50 on April 15 and $150 on June 26,’” Baier said, reading the contract aloud.

June 26 marks the end of the school year; five whole months with no Facebook.

“She turns it on, she’ll have 30 to 40 -- 50 little alerts things popping up too,” Baier said.

It was actually the teen’s idea to quit Facebook.

“She’s frustrated she can’t find babysitting jobs and she said, ‘Dad, would you pay me to get off Facebook?’ I thought she was joking,” said Baier.

But after careful consideration, Baier agreed.

“It’s a responsible thing for her to do. Moderation is very good and in extreme, it can be dangerous,” said Baier.

His 14-year-old daughter is an honor student, and may just be one of the only teens who's okay with logging off.

“The first two days have been fine so far. Some of her friends think she’s a little crazy for doing it but she’s very comfortable with her decision,” Baier said.

Baier said the $200 is money well spent.
