HAVERHILL, Mass. -- A car slammed into a Haverhill home and came to a stop in the family’s living room on Thursday, but for the owner this wasn't anything new.

Witnesses said a teenage driver was making a left turn, but was unable to navigate it and ended up smashing into an Amesbury Road home. The car was completely inside the home with its back tires resting on the front porch.

The homeowner, James Curtis, was sitting in the next room when he said he heard the tires screech and watched the car crash through the wall. Curtis said within seconds he was looking eye-to-eye with the young driver.

“I heard the squealing tires, I got up and then when I got up the car came crashing right in next to me,” said Curtis.

The family has lived in the home since 1954. Curtis said there have been several cars that have crashed into the home -- all sides, except the back, have been hit by cars. Curtis said it doesn’t shock him that this has happened again because, he says, the area is awkward to navigate for many young drivers.

“The wall come in and the car underneath it. That’s it. Very fast,” said Curtis.

Curtis was left to assess the damage to his home and to clean up the mess.

“Oh no not again, I’ve seen it too many times, those mailboxes have been smashed all the time, I mean I lose mailboxes every other year because they come crashing off the street,” said Curtis.

The teenage driver was cited by police and Curtis said he told him that he never wants to drive again.
