FRANCONIA, N.H. (AP) -- Runners are starting a two-day Reach the Beach relay race at Cannon Mountain.

Teams of 12 runners are covering about 200 miles and rotating through 36 transition areas to finish at Hampton Beach State Park on Saturday. They start in Franconia and head south.

The relay draws people from all over the country.

Funds raised for the race are going to organizations such as the Alzheimer's Association's Run for the Memory program; the Rotary Club of Hampton; the New Hampshire State Parks; and community organizations in the state.
