The pessimistic view in me says it's a rainy start to the weekend... the glass half full optimism in me says the second half of the weekend is dry. However you want to spin it, expect wet conditions out there this morning as rain moves through. The rain won't last all day, in fact, the steadiest rain tapers off later this morning, and other than a sprinkle or a patch of drizzle, the afternoon remains mainly dry... cloud filled, but mainly dry.
The second half of the weekend looks good with more sunshine back in the forecast, although clouds start winning the battle again mid to late afternoon. Those clouds foreshadow more rain that needs to work in here Sunday night and Monday. There may be just enough cold air leftover late Sunday night and early Monday morning to allow for some icy spots across outer Route 2 and SW New Hampshire, but most of us just deal with a cold rain.
Temps are slow to warm Monday, but once the front works through, temps take off to the upside late afternoon into the evening. How's 60 sound? Mild weather continues for you tailgaters and Pats fans heading to Gillette through the evening, although you'll deal with scattered showers out there as well.
Cool weather works in for Tuesday and there may be a bit of rain/snow mixed Tuesday afternoon if another wave of low pressure rides along a front stalled just southeast of us.
As that front moves offshore Wednesday, high pressure builds in and that means sunshine for the 2nd half of the workweek. Cooler temps as well!

Summer officially starts Friday at 1:04 A.M., and Mother Nature's sending in summer weather for us just in time. Mid to late June averages highs near 80 degrees, and we'll be there temperature-wise over the next few days. Mostly dry too!

If you were caught in those 'cloudbursts' today, you had more than you could handle in the rain department. Torrents fell in a short amount of time - what we deem 'flash flooding' in the weather biz. Since it happens suddenly, the National Weather Service has adopted the acronym TADD:

Heat and a bit of humidity fed a strong - and sometimes severe - line of thunderstorms today. By the time the dinner hour rolled around (6pm-ish), the storms had consolidated into a line. Everyone got a drink of water and a big drop in temperatures - some falling nearly 20 degrees in minutes!

Well, we had a lot of clouds this afternoon, but at least not a lot of rain. Sure a few showers were out there, scattered about, but hopefully they didn't ruin any plans you had with dad. Temps made it into the mid to upper 70s, which is close to the average for this time of year. In fact, the whole 7-day forecast is within 5 degrees of average each and every day. That means lots of upper 70s and lower 80s on the board. Not bad being average this time of year, huh?
