The Better Half Ahead

Posted by Chris Lambert

Well, it wasn't the best day that we've had, that's for sure, but some of the mist and drizzle seemed to let up a bit this afternoon, so it was somewhat manageable if you had to be out and about.  Of course, with some many low clouds stuck here, temps were also stuck in place all day.

We'll do better tomorrow as indeed the second half of the weekend is the better half.

After more low clouds, fog, patchy mist this evening, a front to our west sweeps in overnight, helping to bring drier air in by early tomorrow morning.  In fact, at sunrise, I expect partly sunny skies.  We'll remain partly sunny into the afternoon, although the clouds start to win the battle by late afternoon.  By the evening, showers move back in and turn to a steady rain after midnight, into Monday morning.

There may be just enough cold air leftover late tomorrow night and early Monday morning to allow for some icy spots north of outer Route 2 and into SW New Hampshire, but most of us just deal with a cold rain.

Temps are slow to warm Monday, but once the front works through, steady rain turns to hit or miss showers and temps take off to the upside in the afternoon into the evening.  How's 60 sound?  Although weather will be mild for you tailgaters heading to watch the big match-up Monday night at Gillette, do be prepare for at least scattered showers.

Cooler weather prevails Tuesday with perhaps a shower or two at the coast. Brighter skies to follow Wednesday-Friday.

Just In Time

Summer officially starts Friday at 1:04 A.M., and Mother Nature's sending in summer weather for us just in time.  Mid to late June averages highs near 80 degrees, and we'll be there temperature-wise over the next few days.  Mostly dry too!

Like A Waterfall

If you were caught in those 'cloudbursts' today, you had more than you could handle in the rain department. Torrents fell in a short amount of time - what we deem 'flash flooding' in the weather biz. Since it happens suddenly, the National Weather Service has adopted the acronym TADD:

Thunderous Start to Workweek

Heat and a bit of humidity fed a strong - and sometimes severe - line of thunderstorms today. By the time the dinner hour rolled around (6pm-ish), the storms had consolidated into a line. Everyone got a drink of water and a big drop in temperatures - some falling nearly 20 degrees in minutes!

We'll Take Average

Posted by Chris Lambert

Well, we had a lot of clouds this afternoon, but at least not a lot of rain.  Sure a few showers were out there, scattered about, but hopefully they didn't ruin any plans you had with dad.  Temps made it into the mid to upper 70s, which is close to the average for this time of year.  In fact, the whole 7-day forecast is within 5 degrees of average each and every day.  That means lots of upper 70s and lower 80s on the board.  Not bad being average this time of year, huh?
