Hello GoodBye

Posted by Jeremy Reiner

The coldest chunk of air is now leaving New England---and it's Friday! Winning. Moving arctic air out of here requires some work (thank all the nooks & crannies of New England for that one!) and that work comes in the form of some wind & clouds. High temps today will reach the mid 30s--which is close to normal for these parts---but that southwest breeze dragging in the milder air will work against itself as it will feel chilly at times. Clouds will win the sky battle today.

As we step into the weekend, I spy some delightful winter weather. No big rain/snow storms and no bone-chilling temps either. Saturday offers a lot of sunshine and temps in the mid 30s. The only knock against tomorrow is a breeze for much of the day--it will feel a bit colder at times. Sunday won't be as breezy but not as bright either as a tiny storm pesters us with clouds & flurries. Still a great day for outdoor activities.

Looking into next week, our weather pattern will slowly warm as afternoon highs flirt with 40 and overnight lows settle into the 20s. In terms of storminess, that will make a return by the middle & end of next week. Leaning more toward rain/ice than snow. Stay tuned.

Have a great weekend!

Come On Ride The Train

Heavy rain is on the move! All afternoon long it was stalled over Western Massachusetts and Connecticut. Heavy pulses of rain traveled over the same towns and cities - a process meteorologists call "training" - resulting in flash flooding in some counties to our west.

Saved by The Sea Breeze

Although my forecast was busted today, there was one good thing that came out of it.

Stability.

That gray overcast that hung over the eastern half of the Commonwealth provided a stablizing influence to our atmosphere. The cool air blowing in from the ocean kept the temperatures in the upper 50s and low 60s all the way back to Metrowest. While that makes for lousy short-and-t-shirt weather, it is poison to thunderstorms.

Storms, Heat, Sea Breezes

What a day! Breakneck temperature swings, thunder, tornadoes in Western Mass....and we're still in late May!

Summ-ah!

With the snap of the fingers we were thrown into summer this afternoon. Heat, humidity, A/C and shorts - with a hazy sun to boot. But with the sea breeze knocking back the temperatures (and bringing in a round of downpours this evening), there are changes afoot.
