Up, Up and Away

Posted by Pete Bouchard

Tons of sun, a milder than normal start, and a not-so-cold airmass: that's what brought us into the upper 40s this afternoon. Now that the winds have settled, we'll feel the pinch of colder air tonight...and tomorrow.

Highs will make it to the low 40s, but it certainly will feel colder than that. Clouds will swarm overhead as the sun goes into hiding for a couple of days. Showers should hold off, but when they arrive in the evening, there might be some pockets of sleet (bouncy stuff, not glazing ice) around Worcester's suburbs. It's brief and isolated, but it still is noteworthy....in this overwhelmingly mild pattern.

After this (slight) setback Friday, the temperatures are up, up and away. Saturday has the potential to be in the 50s, but with the sun still on siesta, I'm keeping it firmly planted in the 40s.

Sunday's the breakout day. Very much like spring, very much in the 50s. In fact, with enough sun, we could cozy up to 60 in some spots (away from the Capes and SE Mass.)! Pats' game is looking balmy and breezy. There is a slight chance at a shower from halftime on, but it's nothing that would be a game-changer.

Colder trend early next week could have the flakes flying by Tuesday (man, there's a lot going on). It'll be just cold enough to stick in some places too. (Stand by for the hype.) Got our eyes on this one.

We mentioned the changeup late next week, and that is certainly still in the cards. The picture is becoming clearer too. It looks like we'll miss out on the most intense cold (glides by just to the north), but with highs NEAR 20 and lows around 0, I think we're good.

Summer officially starts Friday at 1:04 A.M., and Mother Nature's sending in summer weather for us just in time.  Mid to late June averages highs near 80 degrees, and we'll be there temperature-wise over the next few days.  Mostly dry too!

Like A Waterfall

If you were caught in those 'cloudbursts' today, you had more than you could handle in the rain department. Torrents fell in a short amount of time - what we deem 'flash flooding' in the weather biz. Since it happens suddenly, the National Weather Service has adopted the acronym TADD:

Thunderous Start to Workweek

Posted by Pete Bouchard

Heat and a bit of humidity fed a strong - and sometimes severe - line of thunderstorms today. By the time the dinner hour rolled around (6pm-ish), the storms had consolidated into a line. Everyone got a drink of water and a big drop in temperatures - some falling nearly 20 degrees in minutes!

We'll Take Average

Posted by Chris Lambert

Well, we had a lot of clouds this afternoon, but at least not a lot of rain.  Sure a few showers were out there, scattered about, but hopefully they didn't ruin any plans you had with dad.  Temps made it into the mid to upper 70s, which is close to the average for this time of year.  In fact, the whole 7-day forecast is within 5 degrees of average each and every day.  That means lots of upper 70s and lower 80s on the board.  Not bad being average this time of year, huh?
