Something For Everyone

Posted by Pete Bouchard

Showers are coming in overnight. Temperatures have been near freezing around Worcester, and although there may be some sleet or spotty glaze this evening, the temperatures will not cool off to create significant icing. In fact, the numbers may even trickle up a bit as somewhat milder air filters in.

Tomorrow is a hurry up and wait kind of day. A warm front will be stuck overhead and light onshore winds will feed the cloud deck over the Commonwealth. I'm not seeing a lot of hope for sun, but certainly a few rays could slice through the clouds by afternoon. Highs will be a lackluster 45-50.

Sunday is the turnaround. A good breeze from the southwest will boost VERY mild temperatures into New England. Sprinkled with a little sun, we could see highs near 60 by afternoon - esp. in a line from Boston to Providence. (Including The Razor.) By game time, we're still very balmy: upper 50s for tailgaiting, low 50s by the end of the 4th quarter.

Chilly air will swing in with a cold frontal passage on Monday, and it's run-of-the-mill cold through midweek...

...then, the shoe drops.

It now appears that the cold to come LATE next week will be the coldest so far this season, and perhaps even for the last couple of years. It's not looking like cold of record, but there may be some issues:

1) The flu will continue to spread like wildfire as people are driven indoors.

2) While not remaining in the deep-freeze, the cold will be persistent. Signs are pointing to below normal readings at least through the 25th.

3) The snowpack is gone...and won't return in the short term. Pipes could burst/water mains break as the frost goes deep into the ground.

Needless to say, this is some crazy weather. In the course of 6 days, we'll go from a high of 60 to 17. It'll be one heck of a weather ride.

Make it a good weekend!

And GOOOOOO PATSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!

Summ-ah!

Posted by Pete Bouchard

With the snap of the fingers we were thrown into summer this afternoon. Heat, humidity, A/C and shorts - with a hazy sun to boot. But with the sea breeze knocking back the temperatures (and bringing in a round of downpours this evening), there are changes afoot.

Warming Up and Unsettled

Posted by Chris Lambert

Well, it certainly was a great weekend weather-wise until this afternoon when the temps dropped and light showers moved in from west to east.  Despite the cool down, the theme for this upcoming week is warmer with higher humidity.  It'll also be unsettled at times.

Pulling The Fade

Posted by Chris Lambert

Our fun in the sun ends this afternoon as morning sunshine fades behind thickening clouds.  As those clouds increase, a few showers break out this afternoon from west to east, with the highest chance for rain late afternoon and this evening.  Most of the showers are light, especially the early afternoon ones, but a heavier shower or two is possible near day's end and early this evening.  Highs reach the mid to upper 60s around noon, then fall back to near 60 mid to late afternoon thanks to scattered showers.  These showers are brought to us by a warm front.
