Stepping Down

Posted by Jeremy Reiner

We are taking steps back to winter---better than a slide! Yesterday we had temps in the low 60s whereas today we will only reach the low 40s for afternoon highs (normal high is 35). You will have some sun but look for a lot of clouds throughout the day. These clouds are tied to a front--the front that shoved our April-like temps out of here overnight. That front isn't done with us just yet.

The front will act like a highway for any storm that would just so happen to form----oh and look--a storm is forming this morning North Carolina and that storm will travel along this front today and up into New England during the day tomorrow. It won't be a big, bad storm that gets a name or anything like that but it will create some issues for us.

*Light snow & rain arrives ~4am Wednesday and lingers until 4pm.

*Most of the snow is west of Interstate 95---little if any snow is expected within a mile or 2 of the ocean (mostly rain in those locations).

*Travel will be snarled at times throughout the day---but the snow won't fall faster than the plows can plow it--good!

*We do have a map that details the snowfall potential (It's the *Special* Map in that section).

In any event, drier and colder weather returns for the remainder of the week.

Saved by The Sea Breeze

Although my forecast was busted today, there was one good thing that came out of it.

Stability.

That gray overcast that hung over the eastern half of the Commonwealth provided a stablizing influence to our atmosphere. The cool air blowing in from the ocean kept the temperatures in the upper 50s and low 60s all the way back to Metrowest. While that makes for lousy short-and-t-shirt weather, it is poison to thunderstorms.

Storms, Heat, Sea Breezes

What a day! Breakneck temperature swings, thunder, tornadoes in Western Mass....and we're still in late May!

Summ-ah!

Posted by Pete Bouchard

With the snap of the fingers we were thrown into summer this afternoon. Heat, humidity, A/C and shorts - with a hazy sun to boot. But with the sea breeze knocking back the temperatures (and bringing in a round of downpours this evening), there are changes afoot.

Warming Up and Unsettled

Posted by Chris Lambert

Well, it certainly was a great weekend weather-wise until this afternoon when the temps dropped and light showers moved in from west to east.  Despite the cool down, the theme for this upcoming week is warmer with higher humidity.  It'll also be unsettled at times.
