To & Fro

Posted by Pete Bouchard

This morning we had a friendly reminder that we're still in knee-deep in winter. Generally 3-5 inches of snow for most -except on the South Shore, Buzzards Bay and Cape Cod. For a thorough review of the snowfall amounts from area Skywarn Spotters and our weather spotters, head to this site.

As for the remainder of the night, we're done with the storm, and we won't see a flash freeze, but I do expect our temperatures to gradually slide overnight as the cloud break up. So expect some icy sidewalks, walkways, driveways and crusted-over cars by morning as temperatures fall into the upper 20s.

Sun is back tomorrow, and although it's filling the sky. Some clouds will be drifting through as another system develops to our south. We're melting nonetheless as highs climb near 40!

That storm to the south will make its pass on Friday morning (few hours either side of dawn). This time around, the snow will be flying on the South Shore/Cape and Islands. It's a combo of proximity to the storm and a little bit of "ocean-effect" snow. (Cold air moving over relatively warm water...our version of the Lake Effect they see around the Great Lakes.) Generally, it's a swath of 1-3 inches South Shore, Cape and Islands. May even see some snowflakes in Boston if the storm jogs a little to the north.

We'll feel the pinch of cold air on Friday, then bounce back over the weekend. Temps are back and forth until the REAL cold slams down early next week.

Summ-ah!

With the snap of the fingers we were thrown into summer this afternoon. Heat, humidity, A/C and shorts - with a hazy sun to boot. But with the sea breeze knocking back the temperatures (and bringing in a round of downpours this evening), there are changes afoot.

Warming Up and Unsettled

Posted by Chris Lambert

Well, it certainly was a great weekend weather-wise until this afternoon when the temps dropped and light showers moved in from west to east.  Despite the cool down, the theme for this upcoming week is warmer with higher humidity.  It'll also be unsettled at times.

Pulling The Fade

Posted by Chris Lambert

Our fun in the sun ends this afternoon as morning sunshine fades behind thickening clouds.  As those clouds increase, a few showers break out this afternoon from west to east, with the highest chance for rain late afternoon and this evening.  Most of the showers are light, especially the early afternoon ones, but a heavier shower or two is possible near day's end and early this evening.  Highs reach the mid to upper 60s around noon, then fall back to near 60 mid to late afternoon thanks to scattered showers.  These showers are brought to us by a warm front.

Back and Forth

Quite a few clouds in the sky at times this afternoon, but the atmosphere lacked ample moisture to produce showers, so we made out just fine with temps near 70.  Even the coast made it well into the 60s before the onshore wind knocked temps back.
