Meteorology. Such an interesting field of work I chose....I digress. The storm that I barked about yesterday still formed, still created this wicked snow showers that are producing heavy snowfall rates---only, they are about 40-60 miles of where I thought the would be. The result?.......not much in the way of snow this morning. There will be a few snow showers up on Cape Ann as well as Cape Cod (perhaps even 2 or 3 snow showers in the Worcester hills), otherwise a mix of sun & clouds for the day. What will happen is bitter cold air will flood southern New England the next 2 days. This arctic assault arrives during the day on fiesty northwest winds keeping wind chills in the teens for much of the day.
Bitter cold air is expected overnight with many towns away from the ocean near zero and even along the coast--including downtown Boston will see overnight lows between 5-10 above zero. That arctic air is also dry air so get those humidifiers cranking later today & tonight. Mainly clear skies.
Wednesday-Thursday will be all about the bitter cold and not just during the morning commute but also coffee break time, lunchtime as well as after school activities will offer cold cold temps. High temps on Wednesday & Thursday won't see 20!! That sun will shine but only play the role of 'good friend' rather than source of heat.
Friday. Friday offers a shot at some more snow (hahaha--I know what you are thinking). This next storm offers a better chance at seeing a plowable snow by afternoon & evening. More on that possible storm later in the week.
Stay warm.

If you were caught in those 'cloudbursts' today, you had more than you could handle in the rain department. Torrents fell in a short amount of time - what we deem 'flash flooding' in the weather biz. Since it happens suddenly, the National Weather Service has adopted the acronym TADD:

Heat and a bit of humidity fed a strong - and sometimes severe - line of thunderstorms today. By the time the dinner hour rolled around (6pm-ish), the storms had consolidated into a line. Everyone got a drink of water and a big drop in temperatures - some falling nearly 20 degrees in minutes!

Well, we had a lot of clouds this afternoon, but at least not a lot of rain. Sure a few showers were out there, scattered about, but hopefully they didn't ruin any plans you had with dad. Temps made it into the mid to upper 70s, which is close to the average for this time of year. In fact, the whole 7-day forecast is within 5 degrees of average each and every day. That means lots of upper 70s and lower 80s on the board. Not bad being average this time of year, huh?

Happy Father's Day to all you dads out there, and to my dad as well. So what's on tap for the day? Golf, grilling, just hanging out? Whatever it is, all and all, it's still a pretty good day for dad weather-wise. I wish I could say the Father's Day forecast exactly repeats Saturday, but we do have a few late afternoon showers to track.
