Coldest Behind Us

Posted by Pete Bouchard

Well we made it. To Friday, to the weekend, to the other side...

...of the cold. I'm not ready to back off completely on the arctic air, but the coldest days are behind us. (I'm almost ready to say for the entire winter too - climatologically, we're passing the coldest part of winter.) The weekend will still be cold - esp. in the mornings with temps in the teens - but it won't be as numbing as the past few days.

We also are watching a weak storm system rounding Long Island and Nantucket en route to the open Atlantic. Not much to fuss about as the cold, dry air squashes the snow into the Mid-Atlantic:

Not a lot of wind tomorrow in the wake of this system, but it won't exactly be calm either. Expect a nagging, persistent wind most of the day with a blend of sun and clouds. Sunday is the pick of the weekend! Highs near 30 (what's that like?) and sun dominates.

After all this bitter air it's hard to believe we'll be tracking a mild, wet storm early next week. Before we turn to raindrops, however, we may get a couple of inches of snow in some spots Monday night. The warmup will last through Wednesday before Old Man Winter sends in the cold reinforcements late next week.

Make it a good weekend!

Thunderous Start to Workweek

Posted by Pete Bouchard

Heat and a bit of humidity fed a strong - and sometimes severe - line of thunderstorms today. By the time the dinner hour rolled around (6pm-ish), the storms had consolidated into a line. Everyone got a drink of water and a big drop in temperatures - some falling nearly 20 degrees in minutes!

We'll Take Average

Posted by Chris Lambert

Well, we had a lot of clouds this afternoon, but at least not a lot of rain.  Sure a few showers were out there, scattered about, but hopefully they didn't ruin any plans you had with dad.  Temps made it into the mid to upper 70s, which is close to the average for this time of year.  In fact, the whole 7-day forecast is within 5 degrees of average each and every day.  That means lots of upper 70s and lower 80s on the board.  Not bad being average this time of year, huh?

Happy Father's Day

Posted by Chris Lambert

Happy Father's Day to all you dads out there, and to my dad as well.  So what's on tap for the day?  Golf, grilling, just hanging out? Whatever it is, all and all, it's still a pretty good day for dad weather-wise.  I wish I could say the Father's Day forecast exactly repeats Saturday, but we do have a few late afternoon showers to track.

Well Deserved

Posted by Chris Lambert

After 8" of rain in the last two weeks, we needed/deserved this one!  What a day with temps just shy of 80 degrees, low humidity, plenty of sunshine and a refreshing breeze.  We'll trade those sunny skies in for mainly clear skies tonight as temperatures fall to near 60 in Boston, but in the upper 40s and lower 50s in the suburbs.
