The Slow Rise Up

Posted by Chris Lambert

We're sliding out of the core of the cold, however, it's not quite a quick recovery to say the least.  Temperatures this afternoon warm into the lower to middle 20s, but with a breeze, it'll feel more like the teens.  The winds won't be as strong as what we've seen, but still active with gusts out of the northwest exceeding 20mph.   Slightly less wind and a bit warmer tomorrow.  We'll keep the sun around too.

Heading up north skiing this weekend?  Bundle up!  Temps across ski country struggle to reach the mid teens today, near 20 tomorrow.  With a brisk wind today, wind chill factors hover near zero, if not just below.  Wind won't be as gusty tomorrow, but still add a chill to the air.

We'll start off cold again Monday, but as a warm front approaches, we'll notice temps tick up a bit as well as clouds increasing.  As that warmer air pushes into the cold air in place, it initially rises up and over it, cools and condenses, and forms clouds and even some snow.  I do think we'll have to contend with a period of light snow late-day Monday into Monday night before it changes to drizzle and freezing drizzle Monday night.  Not much snow will fall, but a coating to and inch or two, combined with patch freezing drizzle, will create slick spots on the roads Monday evening and Monday night.

Much of that tapers off by Tuesday morning as temps warm to near 40 during the day with mostly cloudy skies.

Temps jump to the lower 50s on Wednesday with an active southerly breeze.  Those 50s are short-lived though as rain showers work in by day's end, and eventually a steadier period of rain overnight.  That rain is along a cold front, and on the other side, cold weather comes pouring back in by the end of the week.

Have a nice weekend!

Like A Waterfall

If you were caught in those 'cloudbursts' today, you had more than you could handle in the rain department. Torrents fell in a short amount of time - what we deem 'flash flooding' in the weather biz. Since it happens suddenly, the National Weather Service has adopted the acronym TADD:

Thunderous Start to Workweek

Posted by Pete Bouchard

Heat and a bit of humidity fed a strong - and sometimes severe - line of thunderstorms today. By the time the dinner hour rolled around (6pm-ish), the storms had consolidated into a line. Everyone got a drink of water and a big drop in temperatures - some falling nearly 20 degrees in minutes!

We'll Take Average

Posted by Chris Lambert

Well, we had a lot of clouds this afternoon, but at least not a lot of rain.  Sure a few showers were out there, scattered about, but hopefully they didn't ruin any plans you had with dad.  Temps made it into the mid to upper 70s, which is close to the average for this time of year.  In fact, the whole 7-day forecast is within 5 degrees of average each and every day.  That means lots of upper 70s and lower 80s on the board.  Not bad being average this time of year, huh?
