Cold, Snow, Ice, Warm, Wind, Rain, Cold

Posted by Chris Lambert

Confused by the title?  Well, that's pretty much how this next 7day stretch goes.

Let's start with tonight.  More cold weather is in store as overnight lows fall back into the single digits in the burbs and low to mid teens in the city.  Add in the breeze, and wind chill factors run about 10 degrees colder than the actual air temperature.

Tomorrow, the wind won't be as strong, that makes it feel a bit better, and with highs running in the upper 20s to 30, overall, we have a pretty good Sunday on our hands.

Any sun fades quickly Monday behind thickening clouds, with light snow breaking out along a warm front late in the afternoon.  Don't expect a ton of snow, but a general 1-3" falls late Monday afternoon, through the evening, producing slick roads, perhaps in time for the ride home from work.  Southern Bristol, southern Plymouth and the Cape/Islands will be at the lower end of the snow range, if not under it, thanks to warming temps changing snow over to sleet and drizzle fairly quick.

The rest of us will see the change to sleet and freezing drizzle late in the evening, creating an icy glaze on top of the fresh inch or two of snow (close to the coast, snow goes to plain ole drizzle).  As warm air finally wins the battle, that freezing drizzle turns to plain drizzle by the AM commute on Tuesday.

Tuesday is kind of a blah day.  Nothing special, lots of clouds, temps in the upper 30s.

Wednesday will be windy and warmer, isolated passing shower, temps in the mid 50s.  Steadier rain works in at night, before colder air ends the week.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Warming Up and Unsettled

Posted by Chris Lambert

Well, it certainly was a great weekend weather-wise until this afternoon when the temps dropped and light showers moved in from west to east.  Despite the cool down, the theme for this upcoming week is warmer with higher humidity.  It'll also be unsettled at times.

Pulling The Fade

Posted by Chris Lambert

Our fun in the sun ends this afternoon as morning sunshine fades behind thickening clouds.  As those clouds increase, a few showers break out this afternoon from west to east, with the highest chance for rain late afternoon and this evening.  Most of the showers are light, especially the early afternoon ones, but a heavier shower or two is possible near day's end and early this evening.  Highs reach the mid to upper 60s around noon, then fall back to near 60 mid to late afternoon thanks to scattered showers.  These showers are brought to us by a warm front.

Back and Forth

Quite a few clouds in the sky at times this afternoon, but the atmosphere lacked ample moisture to produce showers, so we made out just fine with temps near 70.  Even the coast made it well into the 60s before the onshore wind knocked temps back.

Pretty Good Weekend Overall

Posted by Chris Lambert

Sure, it's a cool start with many of the suburbs down into the upper 30s and lower 40s, but we'll warm up quickly through the day as that sun helps us out.
