Well, that wind finally brought the house down. Temperatures hovered near freezing all day thanks to the colder airmass and the afternoon clouds. Even a few flakes flew out on Nantucket as a small, compact storm flared up and shot offshore.
Tonight the deep freeze sets in with temperatures falling into the teens in many spots. Highs tomorrow will struggle to make freezing most everywhere. Then we set our sights on another storm developing offshore.
It's not a biggie, or a least it won't be as it moves over us Sunday afternoon and evening. Nonetheless, roads may slicken a bit, and there might even be enough to put the plow blade down on Cape Cod. The despite all its potential, the amounts will leave the snow hounds wanting:

Or at the very least saying, "is that the best you got?" Indeed, this winter has been about weak storms, big disconnects (between the cold and snow) and missed opportunities. Far be it for me to call off the season, but time is getting short for a blockbuster. Climatologically, we are entering our period of most intense snowstorms (see the Blizzard of '78), and as I look out 7-10 days, nothing is cooking. Unless we get some sign that the pattern will be shaken up, or at the very least injected with moisture (we've been below normal since late 2011!), our goose is cooked.
Make it a good weekend...and if the Pats can't be in the 'bowl, let it be the
'9ers!!!!!! Go SF!!

What a day! Breakneck temperature swings, thunder, tornadoes in Western Mass....and we're still in late May!

With the snap of the fingers we were thrown into summer this afternoon. Heat, humidity, A/C and shorts - with a hazy sun to boot. But with the sea breeze knocking back the temperatures (and bringing in a round of downpours this evening), there are changes afoot.

Well, it certainly was a great weekend weather-wise until this afternoon when the temps dropped and light showers moved in from west to east. Despite the cool down, the theme for this upcoming week is warmer with higher humidity. It'll also be unsettled at times.

Our fun in the sun ends this afternoon as morning sunshine fades behind thickening clouds. As those clouds increase, a few showers break out this afternoon from west to east, with the highest chance for rain late afternoon and this evening. Most of the showers are light, especially the early afternoon ones, but a heavier shower or two is possible near day's end and early this evening. Highs reach the mid to upper 60s around noon, then fall back to near 60 mid to late afternoon thanks to scattered showers. These showers are brought to us by a warm front.
