"Did you want to talk about the weather, or were you just making chit chat?" Sorry.... had to do it on this Groundhog day, trying to channel my best Phil Connors.
Whether our furry friend sees his shadow or not, we have some winter weather to deal with over the next 7-days, mainly in the form of cold weather. We'll throw in a few chances of snow, but no back-breaking shoveling.
The first bout of snow works in after midnight tonight as light WSW winds produce some ocean enhanced/effect snow near Buzzards Bay and the Cape and Islands. The rest of us just see spotty flurries and snow showers. Tomorrow morning is mainly dry, but as an ocean storm to our south gathers steam, we'll have a decent shot of some light snow redeveloping. Most locations by tomorrow evening pick up a coating to and inch, but a few spots near the coast, especially south of Boston, could pick up a couple inches. If it doesn't sound like a big storm, it's because it isn't. Easy cleanup on this one as the storm strengthens too late to bring us a heavy dose of snow. For Downeast Maine, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, it could be a different story.
The cold weather continues next week, not record breaking, but several degrees below the average. A few snow showers slide in Wednesday, and perhaps a batch of light to moderate snow on Friday, but still, no Nor'easters to contend with, so many shovels remain in resting position much of the week.

What a day! Breakneck temperature swings, thunder, tornadoes in Western Mass....and we're still in late May!

With the snap of the fingers we were thrown into summer this afternoon. Heat, humidity, A/C and shorts - with a hazy sun to boot. But with the sea breeze knocking back the temperatures (and bringing in a round of downpours this evening), there are changes afoot.

Well, it certainly was a great weekend weather-wise until this afternoon when the temps dropped and light showers moved in from west to east. Despite the cool down, the theme for this upcoming week is warmer with higher humidity. It'll also be unsettled at times.

Our fun in the sun ends this afternoon as morning sunshine fades behind thickening clouds. As those clouds increase, a few showers break out this afternoon from west to east, with the highest chance for rain late afternoon and this evening. Most of the showers are light, especially the early afternoon ones, but a heavier shower or two is possible near day's end and early this evening. Highs reach the mid to upper 60s around noon, then fall back to near 60 mid to late afternoon thanks to scattered showers. These showers are brought to us by a warm front.
