Messy Monday Mix

Posted by Chris Lambert

We couldn't ask for better weather for the cleanup.  Light winds, wall to wall sunshine and temps running in the mid to upper 30s in the afternoon.  With that said, you were in one of two camps today:

Camp 1: Cleaned-up, power on, plowed out, no damage... it was a nice day to enjoy the picturesque winter scenes.

Camp 2: Either you're part of the crews working on exhaustion trying your best to quickly return the area to "normal", or you have no power or damage to your property.  Then it's been another tough day trying to deal with the aftermath.  To you folks... I wish for a speedy recovery.

Despite our nice weather today, we'll deal with some ice and rain tomorrow.  A winter weather advisory is in place from 6AM-10AM, west of Route 128 for some sleet and freezing rain.  That'll add a glaze to the roads and snow pack, before the milder air and rain take over by early afternoon.  It's a fairly quick hitting system, so I don't expect a lot of rain. 0.25-0.50" for most.  With dew points rising to the mid to upper 30s, fog will form in the afternoon and be with us through the evening. Roads will be a mess with standing water and big puddles thanks to clogged drainage areas.

However, since we don't get a lot of rain, I don't expect severe flooding issues.  It would be more of an issue if we had 2" of rain and temps in the 50s vs the low 40s.  That set-up would cause more snow to melt rapidly.

It's still going to be a long few days of cleaning up ahead.  Hats off to the road crews .  You've done a great job so far in an immense challenge.  It's not often that most of the state picks up 20-30" of snow.

Stay safe!

Pulling The Fade

Our fun in the sun ends this afternoon as morning sunshine fades behind thickening clouds.  As those clouds increase, a few showers break out this afternoon from west to east, with the highest chance for rain late afternoon and this evening.  Most of the showers are light, especially the early afternoon ones, but a heavier shower or two is possible near day's end and early this evening.  Highs reach the mid to upper 60s around noon, then fall back to near 60 mid to late afternoon thanks to scattered showers.  These showers are brought to us by a warm front.

Back and Forth

Quite a few clouds in the sky at times this afternoon, but the atmosphere lacked ample moisture to produce showers, so we made out just fine with temps near 70.  Even the coast made it well into the 60s before the onshore wind knocked temps back.

Pretty Good Weekend Overall

Posted by Chris Lambert

Sure, it's a cool start with many of the suburbs down into the upper 30s and lower 40s, but we'll warm up quickly through the day as that sun helps us out.

Strong Finish

An overall cooler day, but also a great end to the workweek as highs neared 70, low humidity continued and plenty of sunshine dominated the skies.  Now all we need is this to continue through the weekend right?
