Hurry Up and Wait

Snow has been flying most of the early morning out through Worcester county...although you'd be hard pressed to find big accumulations:

Lunenburg 3.5"

Fitchburg 3.0"

Worcester 2.0"

Meantime, the rain continues through Lawrence, down into the North Shore throughout Greater Boston and down to the South Shore. The changeover line is just outside of Framingham and Bedford, and it won't take much for it to come down into the city later this morning and early afternoon.

That said, it's too little too late for serious accumulation along the coast.

Why so little? We're fighting the lingering overnight warmth and temps will be a marginal 34-35 through the afternoon. In addition, there's not a whole lot of precipitation left in the storm. From here on out, the focus will be on a growing area of snow across the Seacoast of NH and Southern Maine. There, the snow will intensify, whereas the surrounding areas of northeast Mass and southern NH will be on the periphery.

Slow wrap to the snow this afternoon and evening. It's not in a hurry to leave...

...but I can't wait for this storm to go.

Saved by The Sea Breeze

Although my forecast was busted today, there was one good thing that came out of it.

Stability.

That gray overcast that hung over the eastern half of the Commonwealth provided a stablizing influence to our atmosphere. The cool air blowing in from the ocean kept the temperatures in the upper 50s and low 60s all the way back to Metrowest. While that makes for lousy short-and-t-shirt weather, it is poison to thunderstorms.

What a day! Breakneck temperature swings, thunder, tornadoes in Western Mass....and we're still in late May!

Summ-ah!

With the snap of the fingers we were thrown into summer this afternoon. Heat, humidity, A/C and shorts - with a hazy sun to boot. But with the sea breeze knocking back the temperatures (and bringing in a round of downpours this evening), there are changes afoot.

Warming Up and Unsettled

Well, it certainly was a great weekend weather-wise until this afternoon when the temps dropped and light showers moved in from west to east.  Despite the cool down, the theme for this upcoming week is warmer with higher humidity.  It'll also be unsettled at times.
