Back into the grind with work & school for all of us but at least that sun will shine through the day. This time of year that sunshine can really get to work and it will today pushing temps into the low 40s. A lot of that sloppy slush on the sidewalks/parking lots will melt away through the day. Except for it being Monday, a decent late winter day ahead. Mostly clear tonight with areas of refreeze expected.
Tuesday offers similar weather with mostly sunny skies & seasonal temps--afternoon highs into the lower 40s with little to no wind. There will be a few afternoon clouds around and those clouds are tied to our next storm that will be sloppy for early Wednesday. That's right, another storm heading this way.
We continue with our stormy pattern and next up is Wednesday. I think it will behave much like the weekend event.....rain & snow scattered across the area. The difference (and it's a big one) is the timing---a commuter storm. Right now, it looks like a mix of rain & snow will break out around 5-6am Wednesday and be with us for much of the day. It does appear that there will be enough snow to shovel & plow but most of that will be confined to the I-495 corridor & beyond. metro Boston will see a coating before the storm becomes mainly a chilly rain storm. More on this mess in a lil bit.
Have a great day!

Rain and drizzle continues tonight as temperatures drop into the mid 30s to 40 degrees. Any burst of heavier precip drags down colder air, and elevations above 1000 feet in northern Worcester County or southwester NH see wet snow mixing in overnight. No shovels or plows needed for us, but it is a sure sign how cold the atmosphere is for late May. As of this writing, Mt. Mansfield in VT has picked up 7.5" of snow and Whiteface Mtn. in NY has picked up 18"!

So it's the unofficial start of summer this weekend and officially, the average high this time of year hits 70 degrees. So you'd think we have a good shot at BBQ weather right? Not much of a chance today with highs reaching near 50 this morning, only to fall back into the low to mid 40s this afternoon as a cold rain settles in.

Rain, rain, rain...
...but for many today was a day of hurry up and wait. Sure there were showers, but not every minute was washed out. With the events unfolding tonight, that's about to change.

Heavy rain is on the move! All afternoon long it was stalled over Western Massachusetts and Connecticut. Heavy pulses of rain traveled over the same towns and cities - a process meteorologists call "training" - resulting in flash flooding in some counties to our west.
