Snow? What snow? Wow....I'll say this, at least if it snows in March you can get rid of it pretty quickly (remember this next Tuesday night...) with a day of rain and mild temps. Many towns picked up around.50" of rain, even a few pockets of .75" across southern New England. Despite that rain and the rapid snow melt, those small rivers & streams didn't flood. Whew.
Let's chat sunshine. That's todays message and also managing to grab one last mild day before we return to a cold pattern. Temps will move through the 40s this morning and reach the low 50s for a few hours this afternoon. The only knock on this afternoon will be a northwest breeze which will add some chill to the air. Overall, a nice March day.
That breeze continues this evening and it will begin to drag in colder air for most of us with Thursday morning temps running about 10-20 colder than this morning......that puts us in the 20s. Starting cold & finishing cold tomorrow with afternoon highs only in the upper 30s. A lot of clouds will be around as well, perhaps even a few flurries. Chilly & brighter weather is in store for Friday.
The weekend offers a nuisance storm on Saturday with some light snow & rain for much of the day. As of now, 1-3" of snow possible on grassy surfaces--little if any accumulation expected on the roads. St. Patrick's Day will be bright but chilly.
Peace

Although my forecast was busted today, there was one good thing that came out of it.
Stability.
That gray overcast that hung over the eastern half of the Commonwealth provided a stablizing influence to our atmosphere. The cool air blowing in from the ocean kept the temperatures in the upper 50s and low 60s all the way back to Metrowest. While that makes for lousy short-and-t-shirt weather, it is poison to thunderstorms.

What a day! Breakneck temperature swings, thunder, tornadoes in Western Mass....and we're still in late May!

With the snap of the fingers we were thrown into summer this afternoon. Heat, humidity, A/C and shorts - with a hazy sun to boot. But with the sea breeze knocking back the temperatures (and bringing in a round of downpours this evening), there are changes afoot.

Well, it certainly was a great weekend weather-wise until this afternoon when the temps dropped and light showers moved in from west to east. Despite the cool down, the theme for this upcoming week is warmer with higher humidity. It'll also be unsettled at times.
