Boy, it was VERY apparent we were in the deep freeze this morning. Ground (and some small ponds) actually refroze in many areas last night as temperatures fell into the teens and low 20s. Is winter making a comeback?
It will try, but the March sun has the final word on the afternoon. We just have to keep it out.
Won't be much of a problem this weekend: Saturday we'll mix the clouds and sun, while St. Patrick's Day sees a very bright sky. Despite the sun, highs only hover near 40 both days.
Then our attention turns to the storm brewing for Monday night and Tuesday. Here's what this storm isn't:
Unfortunately, this storm will be a player in the Tueday morning commute. We'll see a changeover from snow to ice/rain at that time, so it will make the roads mighty sloppy. In the city and up and down both Rt. 1 and Rt. 3, we'll see a quick changeover, so it looks like accumulations and impacts will be lighter there. Metrowest, Greater Worcester and the Merrimack Valley will take a little longer. Even here, the only numbers I'm tossing around are 2-4 inches at this point. Eventually, we'll all go over to rain as the storm winds down in the afternoon. (Evening commute is better.)
More details to follow with Chris this weekend.
Be well and enjoy!
Pete

Sure, it's a cool start with many of the suburbs down into the upper 30s and lower 40s, but we'll warm up quickly through the day as that sun helps us out.

An overall cooler day, but also a great end to the workweek as highs neared 70, low humidity continued and plenty of sunshine dominated the skies. Now all we need is this to continue through the weekend right?

How about yesterday? The 82 in Boston matched the warmest temp we've had since September 13th. Of course, with a wind gusting past 30mph and relative humidity near 18%, it certainly didn't feel oppressive.

Lower 80s, low humidity and sunshine... would you call it a top 10 kind of day? Only complaint, other than it not being the weekend, is maybe the wind was a bit much? It certainly was gusty, at times blowing 30-35mph. No sea breeze will move inland with a strong west wind like that.
