Hope Springs Eternal

Posted by Jeremy Reiner

Let me tell you something my friend. Hope is a dangerous thing. Hope can drive a man insane. --Red, Shawshank Redemption.

Buried under another 4-8" of snow this morning as yet another storm takes a swipe at new England and delays the arrival of spring. The worst of the storm is behind us with the heavy snow just now shifting offshore and milder air beginning to take hold. We'll still see pockets of precipitation throughout the day but it will be in the form of sleet inland & just plain rain along the coast-south shore. Travel will be poor across the region during the entire day so allow for extra time if venturing out.

Thankfully, the storm is eager to leave so by evening (5pm) those pockets of snow, sleet & rain will shut down and only clouds will stick throughout the night. The storm is a fast mover so that means you'll hear some wind tonight--gusting from the west 15-25mph. Watch for areas of refreeze this evening & tonight.

Sunshine is back tomorrow but seasonal temps are not. Despite that powerful March sun, highs will crawl into the upper 30s---nearly 10 degrees below normal for this time of year! Another close call of a storm with an ocean storm--should be far enough away to spare us any big snow but some scattered snow showers are likely. Sunshine returns by Friday & will stick with us into the upcoming weekend.

Pulling The Fade

Our fun in the sun ends this afternoon as morning sunshine fades behind thickening clouds.  As those clouds increase, a few showers break out this afternoon from west to east, with the highest chance for rain late afternoon and this evening.  Most of the showers are light, especially the early afternoon ones, but a heavier shower or two is possible near day's end and early this evening.  Highs reach the mid to upper 60s around noon, then fall back to near 60 mid to late afternoon thanks to scattered showers.  These showers are brought to us by a warm front.

Back and Forth

Quite a few clouds in the sky at times this afternoon, but the atmosphere lacked ample moisture to produce showers, so we made out just fine with temps near 70.  Even the coast made it well into the 60s before the onshore wind knocked temps back.

Pretty Good Weekend Overall

Posted by Chris Lambert

Sure, it's a cool start with many of the suburbs down into the upper 30s and lower 40s, but we'll warm up quickly through the day as that sun helps us out.

Strong Finish

An overall cooler day, but also a great end to the workweek as highs neared 70, low humidity continued and plenty of sunshine dominated the skies.  Now all we need is this to continue through the weekend right?
