Cape Cod & the south coast region got pounded by some localized heavy snow late last night & early this morning (Acushnet & Brewster 9" of snow) while the people of Worcester & Dracut got nada. One of those winters. This storm is quickly departing allowing for some sunshine but also creating some wind. That chilly wind howls for much of the day serving as a reminder that it's still early spring around here (we get it, thanks).
The weekend will offer partly to mostly sunny skies both days but Saturday will still be windy at times making those afternoon temps in the low 40s feel colder. Sunday is a nice day--by March standards. Partly to mostly sunny skies AND much less wind. That sunshine flexes its muscles as afternoon temps reach the upper 40s (normal high temp is 49).
Early next week another storm will be along the east coast. As of now, most of that storm will pass to the south of New England but a slight shift in the track to the north and we're talking plowable snow again. I do think we will see clouds & even a few flurries (perhaps a coating of snow on the south coast/cape/islands). Plan on a chilly wind too.
Any hope of warm temps?
Sorry to be that guy but until the pattern breaks down, I don't see any long stretches of warmth (stealing a day here/there is possible). As to when that cold pattern breaks down?.....It may linger until Patriots Day.
Maddening.

What a day! Breakneck temperature swings, thunder, tornadoes in Western Mass....and we're still in late May!

With the snap of the fingers we were thrown into summer this afternoon. Heat, humidity, A/C and shorts - with a hazy sun to boot. But with the sea breeze knocking back the temperatures (and bringing in a round of downpours this evening), there are changes afoot.

Well, it certainly was a great weekend weather-wise until this afternoon when the temps dropped and light showers moved in from west to east. Despite the cool down, the theme for this upcoming week is warmer with higher humidity. It'll also be unsettled at times.

Our fun in the sun ends this afternoon as morning sunshine fades behind thickening clouds. As those clouds increase, a few showers break out this afternoon from west to east, with the highest chance for rain late afternoon and this evening. Most of the showers are light, especially the early afternoon ones, but a heavier shower or two is possible near day's end and early this evening. Highs reach the mid to upper 60s around noon, then fall back to near 60 mid to late afternoon thanks to scattered showers. These showers are brought to us by a warm front.
